Publication owners manage their plan and billing from Account settings > Subscription.
Plans
HeyNews has four paid plans. Pick the one that matches how much you publish.
Hobbyist, $39/month

45 issues per month
20 AI revisions per draft
4 publications

100 AI revisions per draft
10 publications
A full year of story history
Built for teams running multiple brands
Yearly: $4,191.60/year (30% off, about $349.30/month).
Your issue allowance resets every month on your subscription anniversary, even if you pay yearly. Annual billing changes how often you are charged, not how often your issue allowance renews. Deleting a Draft does not return an issue to the current month's allowance.
Story history is how far back your story library goes in Content Desk and Compose. Every active plan and the free trial include a full year. Issues you already wrote keep their own copy of the stories they used, so past issues are not affected.
Signup offers and free trial
Some signup offers start a paid subscription without a Trial. Review the plan, discount, and amount due in checkout before confirming. Once checkout finishes, continue newsletter setup; there is no second Trial to activate.
For eligible new accounts connecting an existing newsletter, the 14-day free trial starts after payment-method checkout. Some trial offer links open that checkout before newsletter setup; you continue setup after saving your payment method. If Newsletter Format setup is available, each Format Run has a separate $19 fee. That checkout saves your card; your selected monthly plan's trial starts only when you approve the Newsletter Format. Existing paid accounts pay the Format Fee without starting another trial.
The free trial includes:
5 draft issues total during the trial
5 AI revisions per draft during the trial
AI Writers set up by HeyNews from your past issues, up to 7 per Publication
1 publication
A full year of story history
A payment method is required to activate the trial before entering the dashboard. Subscription billing starts when the trial ends; the separate Format Fee is paid during Format Generator setup.
The trial limits apply to every plan. Your plan's full allowance (5, 15, 45, or 90 issues per month) starts the moment the trial ends.
During the trial, the Subscription tab shows "Free Trial" on your plan card and lists the price as "No charge today" followed by the price after trial. You'll also see the trial limits: 5 draft issues total, 1 publication, and 5 revisions per draft. Under that, HeyNews shows the full plan allowance that starts after billing begins.
Pricing and offer links can preselect a plan, billing cycle, and discount code for checkout. Review the amount due and any Trial terms before confirming. If the discount cannot be used, checkout opens normally so you can continue or enter another code.
HeyNews sends reminder emails before your trial ends. When the trial period ends, your subscription begins automatically. Cancel before the trial is up and you won't be billed.
You can also start your subscription before the trial ends. If you hit a trial limit, such as the per-draft revision limit, HeyNews offers to start the plan you picked at signup right away, with the exact amount due shown before you decide. Confirming ends the trial that day, charges your saved card for the amount shown, and applies your paid plan's limits. Declining changes nothing. Only the Billing Owner can start the subscription this way.
Billing currency
HeyNews lists plan and add-on prices in USD, including on Turkish pages. Stripe may show an eligible local currency when you open Checkout. Stripe calculates that amount and handles the conversion. Your HeyNews plan remains priced in USD, and there is no billing currency switch in Account settings.
If your account still has a currency change scheduled from an older billing setup, Account settings asks you to cancel it before changing your plan, billing cycle, publications, or add-ons. This removes the old schedule; it does not change your current subscription price.
Admin-granted subscriptions are not charged through Stripe. The granted plan's limits remain available until HeyNews revokes the grant, even if an earlier Stripe trial or subscription was canceled or expired. Because this access is not paid, automatic source checks pause for a publication after 14 days without a visit to Content Desk or Compose. Open either page for that publication to resume the checks.
Add-ons
Add-ons work with any active paid plan. Issue and publication packs add more capacity. The revisions add-on raises each Draft's total allowance to 100.
Add-ons are not available during the free trial. You'll see the Add-ons section with a note that says "Available after trial ends," but the Add buttons stay off until your subscription starts billing. That way, you won't get surprise add-on charges when the trial ends. If you need more capacity while trialing, start your subscription early from a trial limit prompt, then add any add-ons once billing begins.
100 AI revisions per draft
Raises the total to 100 AI revisions per draft on Hobbyist, Starter, and Pro. Team already includes 100 AI revisions per draft.
Monthly: $50/month
Yearly: $420/year
Issue packs
Add extra issues per month when you need more capacity without upgrading tiers.
+10 issues/mo for $99/month
+20 issues/mo for $149/month
+30 issues/mo for $199/month
Publication packs
Add extra connected publications to any plan.
+1 publication for $99/month
+2 publications for $149/month
+5 publications for $229/month
Collaboration Seats
Collaboration Seats cover accepted Members and pending invitations. HeyNews counts the same person once across the Owner's Publications, including when a pending invitation belongs to an existing Member. A verified email change does not use another seat. Starter includes 1 seat, Pro includes 3, and Team, Enterprise, and active Company Newsletter packages include unlimited seats. Hobbyist and the free trial do not include a seat.
If an invitation cannot be sent because no seat is available, People & access confirms that nothing was sent and keeps the email address and Publication Role you entered.
If you close this message with the close button or Escape, keyboard focus returns to Invite. In-app recovery actions move focus to the next dialog or the relevant section under Account settings > Subscription. If an action opens your email app, the message closes first. Focus returns to Invite if HeyNews remains visible.
If you are the Publication Owner and your Subscription is inactive, choose Restart subscription.
If HeyNews is preparing a custom quote for you and there is no Subscription to restart, choose Book a call.
If you already have a pending Company Newsletter quote, choose Talk to us to discuss the quote and Collaboration Seats.
If you are the Publication Owner and your free trial has no seats, choose Start subscription. HeyNews shows the exact amount due before you confirm.
If you are the Publication Owner and your active paid plan is full, choose Add Collaboration Seats or Compare plans.
If your Subscription was granted by HeyNews, email Support to change its capacity. Admin-granted plans do not have customer-managed add-ons.
If you are a Publication Admin, contact the Publication Owner. Only the Owner can change billing.
After you update the Subscription, return to the same Publication in People & access. Your unfinished invitation will still be there. Prices, currency, and available billing options always come from Account settings > Subscription.
If your add-on spend nears the cost of the next tier, HeyNews shows an upgrade prompt on the Subscription tab. Upgrading usually gives you more capacity for about the same cost.
Managing your subscription
From the Subscription tab you can:
Subscribe: start any plan via Stripe Checkout
Change plans: switch to another plan on your current billing cycle, with prorated credit or charge applied by Stripe
Switch billing cycle: toggle between monthly and yearly with prorated credit
Add or remove add-ons: changes take effect right away
Pause for one month: take a short break with billing paused (see below)
Cancel subscription: share a short reason, review any save options, then schedule cancellation for the end of the current billing period
Open Billing Portal: after reviewing your plan and add-on options, open Stripe's portal to update payment methods, view invoices, or manage billing details
View usage: see how many issues you've used this month, how many publications you've connected, and your active add-on spend
If you switch to a plan with fewer publication slots than you currently use, HeyNews asks you to disconnect publications or add enough publication capacity first.
Pause your subscription
Need a short break? On an active paid plan, the Subscription tab has a Pause for one month button.
Pause lasts exactly one month. HeyNews stops billing the moment you pause.
Your existing newsletters and settings stay readable. Generating new drafts, syncing sources, running automations, importing, adding integrations, and publishing pause until you resume.
Resume any time with one click from Account settings > Subscription. If you forget, your subscription automatically resumes one month after you paused it.
Pause is available once every three months. If you paused recently, the Subscription tab shows the next available date.
Pausing also clears any pending cancellation or scheduled downgrade, so your account is not trying to make another subscription change while paused.
HeyNews sends a confirmation email and inbox notice when your subscription is paused and when it resumes. Pause is not available during the free trial, while a payment is past due, or for admin-granted accounts.
If a payment fails
If Stripe cannot collect payment, your account is paused until the invoice is paid. You'll see an Update Payment Method button in HeyNews, and Stripe may also email you a secure payment link.
Newsletter generation is disabled while payment is past due
Adding sources may be limited until payment is fixed
Settings stays accessible so you can update your card or open the billing portal
Your data stays in place. Once the payment succeeds, your subscription becomes active again and you can keep working.
When your trial expires
A card-backed Trial automatically becomes the selected paid subscription unless you cancel first. If the Trial ends without an active subscription, your account is paused and HeyNews shows the available billing recovery action when you sign in.
HeyNews stops checking sources, so no new stories are collected
Newsletter generation is disabled
Settings stays accessible so you can manage your account
Your drafts, sources, and settings stay exactly as you left them, and your story history is still there. Subscribe and pick up right where you left off.
Legacy quantity-based Pro subscriptions
Before the current flat-rate plans, Pro used a single graduated-tier price with one billing slot per connected publication. Customers on those legacy subscriptions keep their current pricing, capacity, and publication count. The Current Plan card notes "Legacy quantity-based pricing" so you know which pricing model you're on.
Canceling
Click Cancel subscription from the Subscription tab to start the cancellation flow.
Only the Publication Owner can cancel. People you've invited to your publication can't cancel or change your subscription, whatever their role.
Share a few words about why you're canceling. We use it to keep improving HeyNews.
We'll look for a better fit before you commit. If a cheaper plan fits your current usage, you'll see it as a one-click downgrade. If your usage is over the next plan down, we'll show the closest cheaper plan along with the exact changes you'd need to make before the downgrade applies.
If a downgrade isn't a fit and pause is available, we'll offer to pause your subscription for one month instead.
If neither suits you, confirm the cancellation. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period; you can reverse the scheduled cancellation with one click any time before then.
You pay for one subscription per account, so it doesn't matter which publication you have selected when you start. HeyNews finds the subscription you're billed for and cancels that one.
If you leave the page partway through, reopening Cancel subscription picks up where you left off instead of asking for your reason again.
If you choose Keep my subscription or Never mind, or close the cancellation window, nothing changes. Your subscription stays exactly as it is.
Every plan keeps a full year of story history. Issues you already wrote also keep their own copy of the stories they used, so past issues are never affected by anything that happens to your story list.
After cancellation is scheduled, HeyNews sends a confirmation email and inbox notice with the date your access ends. If support schedules cancellation for you or you cancel from the Stripe portal, HeyNews still shows the same Keep my subscription option after the billing status syncs. If you keep your subscription, HeyNews sends a confirmation that your plan will continue. After the billing period ends, HeyNews sends a final confirmation, stops checking sources, and disables newsletter generation.
Trial cancellations are immediate. HeyNews sends a confirmation email and inbox notice after your trial is canceled. After canceling a trial, restarting is paid-only, so a new free trial isn't available. Use Open Billing Portal to view invoices, update your payment method, or open the Stripe customer portal at any time.
